On Aug. 6, 2018, DraftKings launched the very first online sports betting app in New Jersey. Over the course of the next three months, seven more NJ sportsbooks popped up in the online space. And since, even more have joined in.

DraftKings Sportsbook
Just when it seemed like MGM would launch mobile betting first, a surprising contender leaped to the front of the pack. Daily fantasy sports company DraftKings announced a partnership with Resorts Casino to offer sports betting back in 2018 and has been one of the top two books in the state since.
The DraftKings sports betting app is quite something, too. It’s one of the most advanced apps in the US market with some impressive features including extensive in-game betting and prop bets as well as a chance to cash in your bet before the outcome is decided.

FanDuel Sportsbook
FanDuel was one of the first out of the gate in NJ when it came to brick and mortar sports betting, but it was later to the game when it came to going online with its NJ sports betting app.
The FanDuel app launched in September 2018, just in time for the first day of college football season. The app is similar in appearance and feel to the DraftKings app, but it also is informed by the institutional knowledge of FanDuel’s parent company, Paddy Power Betfair.
The app’s extensive prop betting offerings are the standout but it also offers in-game wagering and is available on all platforms.
William Hill
William Hill entered New Jersey first when it helped launch the retail sportsbook at Monmouth Park. Additionally, it powers the Ocean Resort and Tropicana sportsbooks. It was only a matter of time before one of the global leaders in sports betting launched its popular app in New Jersey. It did so in September 2018, hitting the market the same time as FanDuel.
BetMGM
The second app to launch in New Jersey came from Borgata owner MGM Resorts International. The BetMGM app launched in August 2018 and is available on mobile and desktop. There’s also a betting app in Nevada but the two books offer different lines based on the local action.
PlaySugarHouse
Live in August 2018, the third mobile app to hit the New Jersey market was a historic one. The PlaySugarHouse mobile app was the first to seamlessly integrate a sportsbook into existing online casino software. Customers on PlaySugarHouse can both bet on games and wager on casino games from the same location. SugarHouse is a Pennsylvania casino, but its online casino has been part of the market for quite a while.
Fox Bet
Fox Bet, the sportsbook brand of PokerStars, launched its online app in September 2018. The standalone platform is available on Android, while the iOS platform is incorporated into the PokerStarsNJ app.
Caesars
Right as the first NFL game of the season kicked off in 2018, so did the sports betting component of Caesars Casino. Like PlaySugarHouse, the online sportsbook is integrated into the Caesars online casino software. At launch, it did not offer in-game wagering, but that component should be available along with the full slate of betting options soon.
888 Sport
888 Sport jumped into the New Jersey sportsbook market in September 2018. The sportsbook is integrated with the other two functions of 888 – the casino site and the poker site. At present, the app is only available via browser and Android, but an iOS version is coming soon.
Hard Rock Atlantic City
Formerly the Trump Taj Mahal, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City rebranded on June 28, 2018. The casino partnered with Gaming Innovation Group to power its NJ online casino platform.
Borgata Sports
Powered by GVC, Borgata Sports was rolled out as the second online skin using the Atlantic City casino’s license. With a myriad of sports on which to wager, Borgata Sports features in-play wagering, prop bets and teasers, among other betting options. PointsBet
A partnership with Meadowlands Racetrack allowed PointsBet to introduce its online sportsbook in December 2018. Along with traditional betting formats, the operator also features a unique method of wagering called PointsBetting. Here, bettors put up stakes on how correct their prediction will be. The more accurate bettors are, the more they can win.
TheScore
One of the more unique sportsbooks on the market, theScore opened its NJ sports betting service in September 2019 as a complement to the media company’s content-driven app. The online sportsbook is available on iOS and Android. DraftKings Sportsbook beat everyone to market when it launched its NJ online sports betting app first on Aug. 6, 2018, after a soft-launch of its product on Aug. 1. On Aug. 22, playMGM joined the market. However, their app is mobile-only and currently only available on Android.
The first gaming operator in the US to offer an integrated online sportsbook and casino was SugarHouse Online Sportsbook & Casino, which launched on Aug. 23. The list of sites grew to five over Labor Day weekend when both William Hill and FanDuel launched online. The two sites squeaked into the marketplace just in time for football season.
On Sept. 6, Fanduel Sportsbook launched its online sports betting site and apps after being one of the first live sportsbooks at the Meadowlands. Additionally, Caesars Casino went live just in time for NFL kickoff. Meanwhile, 888 Sportsbook missed out on the first full Sunday slate of pro football games, but launched on Sept. 10 in time for the first week of Monday Night Football. BetStars joined the party on Sept. 13, becoming the eighth mobile sports betting option for players in New Jersey.

Monmouth Park
Monmouth Park Racetrack was the first sports betting location open for business on June 14. Gov. Phil Murphybegan the new era in New Jersey by betting that the New Jersey Devils would win the 2019 Stanley Cup and that Germany would win the World Cup in soccer.

Monmouth Park’s sportsbook operates with partner William Hill, the European gaming giant which contributed $5 million to update Monmouth’s cafeteria to a proper sports betting location.
The Monmouth Park Sportsbook by William Hill is open seven days a week. Its hours are usually 10 a.m. – 1 a.m. ET, with extended hours during the weekend.

Borgata’s sportsbook opened a few hours after Murphy placed his bets at Monmouth Park. The gaming location replaced Borgata’s Racebook and will accommodate both types of action.
The Borgata Sportsbook is open seven days a week. Betting windows open at 11 a.m. EST each morning.
Borgata offers 100 individual seats with dedicated monitors for player use. For player comfort, the room operates as a strictly non-smoking venue.
There are 10 windows for placing wagers. Since Borgata is an MGM Resorts property, players can earn points through their MLife memberships in the sportsbook.
There is also a horseracing kiosk for players who want to skip the lines for those types of bets.

Ocean Resort
Ocean Resort began accepting sports bets on the casino’s first day of service. Like Monmouth Park, Ocean Resort partnered with William Hill for the operations of the sportsbook.

On June 14, The Meadowlands opened up its FanDuel-branded sportsbook. While the last to market, it is already off to a strong start. It took in $1 million in handle its opening weekend, even with minimal sporting events to wager on.
The property is poised for big business during football season too. The Meadowlands is home to both the New York Giants and the New York Jets. It is also just a short drive away from the New York state line.

Caesars Entertainment sportsbooks
There are multiple Caesars properties in Atlantic City however, Caesars Palace Atlantic City is the one property that won’t have an NJ sportsbook. Caesars is instead offering a book next door to Caesars at Bally’s Wild Wild West. The book opened on July 30.

Resorts Casino
Resorts was the first New Jersey casino to partner with more than one sports betting company. Each casino can have up to three sports betting licenses under its name. Resorts is taking advantage of that by partnering up with both DraftKings and SBTech. The DraftKings sportsbook is a purely online entity. The Resorts-branded sportsbook opened up on property on Aug. 15.

Golden Nugget
Initially, it looked like Golden Nugget would not launch its sportsbook until 2019. However, the company managed to rush one to market in time for 2018 football season. The sportsbook opened on Aug. 15.
